Year of the Phenomenal Woman Celebration

A message from Cynthia Robbins, Executive Director
See Forever Foundation/Maya Angelou Public Charter School

Dr. Maya Angelou at our 2007 annual fundraising eventOn behalf of the entire SFF/MAPCS community, I am pleased to welcome you to the online home of our 2008 Annual Fundraiser with Dr. Maya Angelou. This year’s event focused on celebrating several milestones within our organization:

  • It’s Dr. Maya Angelou’s 80th birthday and we are pleased that for the eleventh consecutive year she can join us for this signature fundraising event

  • The Maya Angelou Public Charter School is celebrating its tenth year of transformative work with at-promise students in Washington, D.C.

  • The 2007-2008 school year has been a tremendous year of growth within our once small organization, this year we assumed management of a new campus at Oak Hill Academy and expanded the offerings of the Maya Angelou Public Charter School with the opening of a new middle school campus.

As a part of this year’s event, we honor these milestones to raise programmatic funds in support of at-promise students in Washington, D.C. Take this opportunity to learn more and commit to supporting the transformative work of the See Forever Foundation/Maya Angelou Public Charter School.

“The connection that Dr. Angelou has with our students is an astounding testimony to her commitment to 'at-promise' youth. I was so pleased to learn that our students were dedicated to celebrating and honoring our namesake during this important year of growth and expansion within our educational community.”
