See Forever Night At The Play
Thanks to See Forever’s Development Manager, Anne Schoolcraft for submitting this article.

On November 3rd, See Forever Foundation (SFF) and Maya Angelou Public Charter School (MAPCS) students, staff and friends gathered together to attend a special performance of the play, A Chosen Few, written and directed by MAPCS alumna and board member Adrianna Cofield. The play depicted the turn of events in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957 and recounted the struggle of the chosen few, who became known as “the Little Rock 9” when they stood up for their rights to attend Central High School and challenge the existing “Jim Crow” segregated educational system. Sending a powerful message through drama and music, audience members left the play with a strong sense of the injustice that once plagued our country and the courage it took to stand up for justice. One MAPCS student who attended play recounted, “The play was wonderful – I left the theatre feeling uplifted from just how far we’ve come. It was cool because it was like one of my history classes come to life.”

The “See Forever Night at the Play” was part of our Circle of Friends program, in which donors have made a four-year commitment of $1,500/year to support the numerous unique elements of the MAPCS school design and one year of alumni support services.
