Compensation

• General Teacher Salaries
  For teachers who are certified and/or have a master's degree in education, starting salaries with the Oak Hill Project will be higher than comparable positions with the District of Columbia Public Schools. In addition, our step and merit pay system enables high performing teachers to earn greater year-to-year advancement than in many public institutions.
• Other Staff
  For school leaders, administrative positions, mental health professionals, and other staff, salaries are competitive with similar positions in the area. And as with teachers, our step and merit pay system enables high performing staff to earn greater year-to-year advancement.
  

Benefits

• Health Care
  All staff members are offered basic health care coverage by See Forever. During the 2007-08 school year, the school will pay 80% of the monthly premiums of our standard HMO package. The coverage applies to staff members and their families. The school sponsors one health care package; our provider is CareFirst BlueChoice. PPO and Out-of-Service plans are available, with employees paying the difference between the HMO cost and alternative plan costs.
  
• 403(b) Plan
  The school has established a 403(b) plan with T. Rowe Price to which employees may contribute. In addition, See Forever will contribute 5% to all full-time staff’s 403(b) plan after one year of service, regardless of whether the employee contributes.
  
• Computer Purchase Plan
  Once a full-time staff member has worked with the Oak Hill Project for three months, the school will pay 1/3 of the cost, up to $500, of a computer. The computer may be a laptop or traditional PC, and may be for home use.
  
• Vacation Schedule
  Teachers with the Oak Hill Project have a vacation schedule that is generally aligned with teachers in surrounding jurisdictions. However, at Oak Hill teacher training typically starts earlier in the summer than at many schools, and there are a few days during the year when the Oak Hill Academy will be open when traditional schools are closed and vice versa.
