Vocational & Employment Training
Our on-site Career Institutes will give students career exposure and industry-specific skills, the chance to earn and save money, and to develop relationships with local businesses.
Currently we are offering courses in:
- Horticulture
- Technology and Digital Media
- Advocacy
- Barbering
- Carpentry/Woodworking
These offerings will increase and/or change in response to student interests.
All students will have the chance to earn and save money for the work they do in their Institutes. Students who successfully participate in their weekly Career Institutes will have $40/week deposited in Individual Development Accounts, which will be tripled by Capital Area Asset Builders if the money is used for college or postsecondary career training.
At the Transition School, students will work off-site with local companies, nonprofit agencies, and government agencies through internships.
