Maya Angelou Schools is looking for dedicated aides at Maya Angelou Public Charter Middle School. 5600 East Capitol Street NE, Washington DC, 20019.
Dedicate aides will ideally work with students throughout the school year.ÃÂ Some dedicated aides will only be needed for a short period of time. ÃÂ
Dedicated Aides will be expected to:
- Travel to schools in a timely manner
- ÃÂ Communicate appropriately with co-workers and special needs students
- ÃÂ Develop bonds with students and work with their parents
- ÃÂ Create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students
- Use creativity to plan activities for students
Additionally, dedicated aides may be asked to:
- Support all students in a class in addition to their assigned student
- Communicate with parents
- Attend meetings
- Participate in lesson planning
- Participate in additional training provided by the Chief Academic Officer and other school leaders
Minimum qualifications:
- High School Diploma with experience in higher education
- Tutoring experience
- Basic reading and math proficiency
Desired qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of special education students
- Basic people skills and ability to work with special needs students
