Our Schools

Creating a Future Beyond a Diploma

The Maya Angelou Schools are like a family – a safe place where young people ages 11 to 24 can explore their potential and dreams.  If students attending Maya Angelou learn nothing else, every educator, and every adult at the school who crosses their path plants in their minds and hearts the idea that they have control in directing their futures.

Even if students struggle with hunger, if they have come from a chaotic home life, if they’ve not always made the best choices or if they’re unsure about what their future holds – with determination, hard work, discipline and caring support, they can succeed.

That success may not look like the conventional type of success, but it is success as defined by these young people with the guidance of those educating them.

Our programs, teachers, and culture set up students for a positive future and a lifetime of possibilities.  The Maya Angelou Schools include:
