The YALC is a free program open to DC residents 17 and older. No prior paperwork, no complicated process — just reach out and we’ll walk you through every step.

How To Enroll
- Complete the online application using one of the links above. Takes less than 10 minutes. A staff member will follow up within a few business days.
Eligibility Requirements
- DC resident, age 17 or older
- Has not yet earned a high school diploma or GED
- Able to attend morning or afternoon sessions (in person or virtual)
- Students with IEPs, 504 plans, or other support needs are fully welcome
- Previously incarcerated individuals are encouraged to apply

Free Tuition
No cost to enroll. No fees for GED prep or CTE
certification courses.
Flexible scheduling
Morning or afternoon classes, in person or virtual
between 9am–2pm.
Weekly attendance incentives
We recognize and reward students who show up and put in the work.
Free meals daily
Free breakfast and lunch served every day at the
YALC Café on campus.
Counseling support
Licensed counselors and social workers are on-site to support your wellbeing.
Special accommodations
IEP and 504 students receive individualized support from our student services team.
What you can earn at the YALC
- All studentsYear-round, small-group GED instruction across all four subject areas: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. Morning and afternoon sessions available in person or virtually.
