Competency Based Education 101
Hey Parents and Guardians,
With this new Competency Based Education (CBE), grading your child will be different from the normal/ regular grading system. This is not what we grew up with. It’s better. I wish I hadÃÂ this system in place when I was in school. My life would have been so much better.
This is how your child will graded:

Exemplary: Student has mastered all material and shows an in-depth understanding of the material by completing advanced work.
Proficient: Student shows a significant understanding of the material and has mastered the complex material and skills for the class.
Progressing: Student shows a basic understanding of the material but is still working to mastered the complex material in the class.
Beginning: Students shows a partial understanding of the material with help from the teacher, but still struggles when working alone.
Not Complete: Even with help from the teacher, the student still doesn’t understands the material. A zero will not be given for missing work until it is complete.
Not Yet Attempted: Student has not done the work.
It might take you a little while to get used to the terms, but once you get the hang of it, it is a breeze. Let me know what you think. Is this something you can get used to? Can you see how this system is better for your child?
