“We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. Charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.”
Dr. Maya Angelou reminded us to “give” when we “get,” and “teach” when we “learn.” The Maya Angelou Schools and See Forever Foundation community understands this maxim well. Throughout the year our educators, staff, and supporters go beyond the call of duty to ensure all students develop the academic, social, and employment skills they need to build rewarding lives and promote positive change.
Our mission and hard work deserve to be heard. This holiday season, we are partnering with #GivingTuesday to spread and amplify the Maya message that all youth deserve opportunities to reach their academic and social potential.
Now in its fourth year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. It is observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.), and this year it will be on December 1st, 2015. Please mark the date, and join us in what comes so naturally to the Maya family – give. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving by using #GivingTuesday on Twitter, Facebook, and any other social media platform you prefer.
